London Art Fair 19 – 24 January 2016 | Stand G1

Delighted to be showing at the 28th edition of London Art Fair 2016. Meet us in Stand G1.

Challenging Chronology through Photography – This year’s presentation at the London Art Fair curated by The Young Masters is a focus on tendencies within contemporary art that reflect and draw upon historical influences in photography. We are pleased to exhibit some of the most talented and promising artists in the field today, including Anoush Abrar, Second Prize winner of The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2015 exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. The work Hector, an infant boy, takes inspiration from the classical subject of a sleeping cupid inspired by Caravaggio. Other artists include acclaimed German photographer Christian Voigt who explores the timelessness of places, such as The Morgan Library in New York, American photographer Elisabeth Caren with reimagined portraits of classical literary characters and Isabelle van Zeijl with her series of ‘self-portraits’ inspired by the Dutch Old Masters.

Slow Art: A Special Focus on Ceramics – Through The Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize launched in 2014, gallerist Cynthia Corbett wished to recognise the resurgent interest in ceramics and ceramic art in the contemporary art world, as well as her own love for the medium. In contrast to modern society’s fast processing, ceramics is labour intensive and the process is often visible in the final result, hence the term ‘Slow Art’. For the London Art Fair we present artists who are both working with traditional techniques and restaging classical subject matters or using inventive techniques to create new impressions.
